Kate Gosselin a Matter of National Security?
Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 10:35AM Rumors have circulated about a kate Gosselin-Steven Neild affair for the past couple of years, and now the Gosselin blogs are atwitter with the news that Steve Neild is named in the current People Magazine cover story as now being Kate Gosselin's “road manager.” This seems a step down from being kate's “bodyguard,” especially for someone who's work experience includes “lead[ing] the special operations section and focus[ing] on counter-terrorism and dignitary protection” for the New Zealand Police Department for 19 years, providing “close protection planning and management for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), for the Royal Families of Britain, Thailand, and Brunei, U.S. President Clinton, and many other elected heads of state,” and having “substantial experience in law enforcement and counter-terrorism operations and management of large critical facilities, such as Auckland International Airport in Auckland, New Zealand.”
Round these here parts we just thought he was paid to look handsome while he packed the van, carried the kiddies, and lugged bags back to the manor from Target.
To clarify this recent turn of employment events, I emailed Mr. Neild through the contact form on his professional web site.
Dear Prudential Associates,
I am a resident of Wernersville, PA, and the writer of a popular blog called Small Town Gosselins and I am writing to request an interview with security expert Steven Neild regarding his services for Kate Gosselin now that the TLC show Kate Plus Eight has been cancelled. Mr. Neild could have final approval of this interview which would be published on my blog and would address questions such as why Mr. Neild was hired to "protect" Kate Gosselin rather than her children, why there is a need for Kate Gosselin to have a "road manager" as she is currently unemployed, and how being a bodyguard for Kate Gosselin has impacted Mr. Neild's personal relationships with his wife and children. I spoke with Mr. Neild briefly at a local corn maze during TLC's filming of an episode there and found him to be warm and friendly. Thank you for your consideration and I hope you will grant my request for an interview.

If I receive a reply I'll let you know how Steve's counter-terrorism tactics will be utilized on behalf of kate, as we all know kate Gosselin's health and safety, not to mention happiness, are a matter of national security.

My cousin who is a former female member of the secret service and worked at the World Trade Center, says in Kate's words, no way is Steve Neild bodyguardish.
Love it neighbor....I guess he will be helpful on the Rodeo Drive of Reading Pennsylvania in the weeks to come...I wonder how much of the kids earned money will be financing his new lucrative career as a road manager?
Which is the first church he will call?
Tucker's Mom posted this on the last entry and I think it was supposed to go here so I moved it over:
I vacillate between thinking that there's more to Kate and Steve than a platonic relationship or if they're lovers (they act like it). Regardless, I believe that Steve is an opportunist riding on Kate's coattails and is exploiting the children more than Jon ever did.
More and more, Steve has been included in filming and has been shown. I have never seen any warm interaction between the kids and Steve, nor any paternal overtures. Has anyone?
It's such a shame that this man is in the kids' lives far more than their own loving father.
n.b.- parents, especially fathers, work hard on your marriage and do everything that you can to keep an intact home, because instead of raising your kids, you will be visiting them.
But, back to your potential and unfortunately unlikely interview...
Road manager, for what? The Rock of Love bus tour?
Advisor, for what? Trying to cobble together a bona fide media career for Kate is going to be like pushing a rope uphill.
As I have called Steve on 15 min, he is Kate's Gal Friday-- a far cry from protecting dignitaries. I can't imagine Steve being taken seriously in the world of real personal protection.
Now look who's got his eggs all in one basket. The very fact that Steve is not going his own way and on to another protectee speaks volumes.

Tucker's Mom, look at the "paid to look handsome" link above and look at the interaction between Steve and the child. Have you never seen pictures of Steve carrying the kids or otherwise interacting with them? I suspect he's been the voice of reason during daily life when Kate's been out of control or isn't making sense because her reactions are out of proportion to what's happening.
"like pushing a rope uphill"
Love it!
I am a bit confused...do we know if Kate has a new job in television? And what is this whole website thing she is launching (that she talked about on the Today show?)
Can't Jon stop her!?!
I hope that Steve is back home with his family and enjoying a well deserved break from Kate. I suspect the RV trip was just as hard on him as it was on Ashley and Jaime, probably more so. I think it was evident in the show that he was just as fed up with her antics as Ashley and Jaime however I think his response is very typical of a man (JMO).
Ashley did post on 15 Minutes. I wonder if the Admin over there was able or could clarify with her what Steve's relationship with Kate actually is. Again, I would be somewhat saddened but mostly perplexed if she confirmed that Steve and Kate are actually an item.
Who knows though. Maybe Steve and Gina have an open relationship. It's apparently not as uncommon as people may think.
IMHO I think it is a good idea to keep Steve around no matter what his job title is these days because Kate - while once again throwing Jon under the bus on the TODAY show - just alienated 99.9999% of the country by referring to Jon's real job as "mediocre".
Yep that is right, real Americans working real jobs in this economy have just been dissed by Kate Gosselin. So no matter what real job you have to provide for you and your family, Kate considers it mediocre.
Kate is now trying to back peddle and sent out this tweet:
Kateplusmy8Kate Gosselin
2clarify re 'mediocre' - I meant this job is not a career acc 2 jon but tv is 4 me & is hard but will prov best opps 4 my kids vs nursing!
So it is not a surprise Kate has now officially labeled nursing as mediocre too.
This just gets better and better because she is going down in flames and the person to blame is the one she sees in the mirror :)
TLC has been showing episodes with little or no editing so we see the real Kate, and then she opens her mouth while being interviewed and alienates the whole country. Classic!!
Oh, Kate did announce that she is going to have her own family web site. Perhaps now the administrator of the current one will finally take off her rose colored glasses?
All I know is that the mediocre computer located in my mediocre house and at my mediocre office will not be able to find her mediocre web site ...
www.kateplusmy8.com
New Website from Kate, I know our posts maybe be posted at the same time by WG , so forgive me if someone else has posted this also.....
Hi Rachel, at this point I don't think it's clear if she's going to be guesting on The Talk or not. We'll just have to wait and see. I don't see how Jon could stop her from having a website and exploiting the kids on that. Unfortunately she is their parent too and the web is so young it's still the wild, wild west.
Hi slilimom, Steve is in NYC with Kate today from what I heard. No doubt to keep her throngs of adoring fans from crushing her with their sheer volume and enthusiasm.
Love this line on the home page of kate's new site: "I felt your pain and sought to do something to ease it…" How kind of her to ease the suffering of those who adore her, even if they are mediocre by her standards. That was really good of her to stoop to cater to them like that.
>How kind of her to ease the suffering of those who adore her, even if they are mediocre by her standards.
Dear Polly, please stop - I can't breathe!
I visited said website when someone finally posted the url and almost every page in Coming Soon. Wonder how long that will be.
Oh right, it was Irene. Thanks Irene.
Went to pick up my new toy Saturday. It's now in what is left of my room. Not really. There is still floor space on the other side of the bed. Still, having an 18 inch deep book truck next to your bed seems convenient. Now to clear all the other crap that is not books... (I haven't filled it, though I easily could, because I'm going to have to swap the file cabinet out, and move the bookcase, so I'll need the book truck to unload the bookcase into. I did it once 10 years ago and all the books were covering my bed...)
Snuggles is very nesty, wandering into corners and cabinets (getting stuck in a tangle of cables I guess I should fix). I carried the bunny around the house and she followed me from a foot away, bobbing her head and squawking so loud that my roommate told me to take her elsewhere as my brother was on the phone.
And now she is quiet.
Maybe I'll watch the finale. At least there will still be people to gripe to. If I wait, there won't. But I didn't watch all of the last week's ep. What happened? Kate said take enough for 2 days and then take all of it and it was all scattered around and she was griping at the disorganization? I did see Ashley hug the kids, but I only knew she was Ashley cause it was repeated a lot. Has Jamie been on the show a lot? I only watched the 1st 2 eps last year and Australia for the koalas, only to find they wouldn't be till next week. Luckily the DVR was working so I could FF a lot.
So Kate was only on one talk show, right? My DVR has a search for her among lots of other people - I think last night I accidentally deleted an interview with Lauren Graham, currently of the awesome Parenthood, which I hadn't watched yet. Darn. But I think she did three shows. Unlike Kate. (It still really annoys me that the news staff of whichever network caters to her so. Are they not yet allowed to throw her under the bus? (or RV)?)
Darn - I actually did misspell Australia.
Can she ease my suffering by going quietly into the night, fading back into the mediocrity and obscurity from which she emerged?
What about my needs, Kate? What about my pain? What About ME?!?!
::pout::
Today has been a good day. First of all my boxer found a jackrabbit to chase on the ranch (Pamela Jaye perhaps you should not read this sentence :) and for about 5 minutes she and the rabbit ran all over the 10 acres before the rabbit got away, and second, Kate has not disappointed me whatsoever.
Whereas I knew that karma would eventually show up and bite her in the butt, still, I can't believe Kate is going down in flames and she herself is the one that lit the match.
First thing this morning on the TODAY show Kate brings up the word "mediocre" when referring to Jon but by association all of us real people in the real world with real jobs that are not on TV are also included in her comment. I have read that on the WENDY WILLIAMS show Kate is given a gag gift but Kate does not get the gag and when she tries to make a joke nobody laughs, then on INSIDE EDITION I have read that Kate really throws Jon under the bus when she acknowledges that yes he does pay child support but it is basically the equivalent of him buying their lunch every day. I have no idea what she has said on ACCESS HOLLYWOOD yet but no doubt just more of the same.
Meanwhile the finale will be shown tonight and I'm pretty sure Ashley and Jamie will not be so favorable about Kate. As for Steve well we will have to wait and see. See as I type this only the TODAY show has been aired here in California.
Now re Kate's new web site, recently there was a father who was making derogatory remarks about the mother of his children on his personal web site and the court ordered him to take it down (sorry, right now I can't remember the name of his web site). Husband is appealing it pushing the first amendment, but his own children said it was bothering them that their father was intentionally hurting their mother which is why judge had the father take it down.
Now as for whether or not Jon can use this case, I don't know because I'm not an attorney. However there is no debate that the Gosselin children have been exposed to every pedophile out there for years, the father is vowing to never allow them back on TV so they can live a private life, and now the mother wants to keep their photographs out there for complete strangers. Personally I think Jon has a good case if he wants to push the issue just due to safety concerns but based upon Kate's comments today after what he said last week that "reality TV is not a career choice ... get back to living a normal life" it probably would be best if Jon waited a little while before he petitions the court to have the Judge make a decision about this matter.
As a footnote to my above post, the court case where an ex husband has to take down his blog per the Judge turns out it is a PA court case so the case law could/would help Jon:

Posted this over at 15 Minutes . . . . .
Well, it’s been an exciting day watching Katie Irene lie, rewrite history, and throw Jon under the bus with her “mediocre” comments. Although I haven’t watched the show on TV for years, thanks to this blog and others for keeping me up-to-date on the realest grifter of all time. Having said that, I got a distinct feeling of déjà vu as Katie Irene made her rounds in NYC.
Does anyone remember the time Katie Irene went on the Today Show crying poor and then took off for Cabo with Stevieboy afterwards?
Katie Irene was seen dress shopping at the local mall on Saturday prior to her press tour. Then after the press tour, she took herself shopping or maybe grifting? again.

Just had @Kateplusmy8 in our showroom and she looked fantastic in everything.. especially our sequins! Come back soon! Xo
Stupid biotch. Keep spending the money on yourself--Mama needs sequins!--while crying poor and how you cannot afford to pay for the kids’ expensive gymnastics lessons, amusement park admissions, etc.

"I'm sure you will see my kids again at some point."
Katie Irene, you need to remember that the children have 2 parents who share joint custody and their father DOES and WILL have something to say about their activities and childhoods. Better yet, watch the video below. Better yet Jon, go back to court and restrict the childrens’ appearance on her website. My fear is she will post short videos ala Justin Bieber or Rebecca Black in order to get Mady (or the other children) noticed and further their/her dreams of Disney stardom.
Administrator said it best . . . . Oh by the way Jon sure can take her to family law court and have the judge decide whether Kate is allowed to post personal pictures and stories and tidbits of the children on the internet. Absolutely

Dwindle said . . . Kate, since I know you read this, apply at nursing homes for the MDS Nurse position. Office work, generally 8-4, no evenings or weekends, and no patient care. Paper nurse, quarterly assessments via chart reviews. You are so organized, you can manage that, right?
I don’t think she would be a good fit for this position at all. Nursing homes like to hire nurses with at least a BSN and previous experience as the work is very exacting and there is little room for error as their licensure and payment rates depend on it. The resident level Minimum Data Set (MDS) is used to assess quality of care and to determine payment levels. Many nursing homes created a specific role, the MDS Coordinator, to coordinate completion of the RAI in order to maximize reimbursement (Hawes et al., 1995). Given the potential clinical, regulatory, and financial significance of the MDS Coordinator, how nurses enact this role may potentially influence the organization at multiple levels.
So, no, I don't think an MDS position would be a good fit for Katie Irene. The elderly patients in nursing homes deserve more than that at this time of their lives. Which were not mediocre, Katie Irene!
"Does anyone remember the time Katie Irene went on the Today Show crying poor and then took off for Cabo with Stevieboy afterwards?"
Does anyone remember less than a year ago, at the end of 2010, Kate crying poor and how worried she was about her kids going to college, and then two months TV Guide printed that her income was $4 million in 2010 alone? (btw, that figure was also given to me by the TV producer I interviewed in my book, way before the TV Guide came out. He got it from the same place TV Guide did - a professional trade journal that the entertainment powers-that-be read.) And that $4 million was only from 2010! There were plenty of other years of shows and magazine covers and book sales and speaking engagements and love offerings besides that.
I tweeted a lot during tonight's episode but my tweets were cut short at about ten mins before the end of the show due to my son wanting a shoulder massage, so we both watched the end of the show together while I did that for him. I'll do a show recap on my blog tomorrow.
God Help Us, those are some sweet kids, my heart goes out to them!
all the tweet about crying. lol How was the finale?
A quote from one of the interviews Kate gave yesterday: "I think the biggest misconception about me is that I'm a self-centered, horrible witch," she said coolly. "That's so far from the truth, it's not even fathomable to me. This person that the media created of who I am does not even exist."
"But I've got thick skin, I can take it, and my kids are the only people on the planet whose opinion I care about," Kate insisted. "They think I'm doing a fantastic job and they love me a lot, so life is good."
______________________________________________________________________________
And here is exactly why she will never change. She refuses to see that while the majority of people can see she's self-centered and just a horrible person all together, she refuses to step back and take a good, hard look at herself and do some hard work on her attitude. Classic narcissist. You have thousands of people telling you one thing and you will still deny it and refuse to see it. Her actions speak for themselves. She can deny she's a certain way until the cows come home, but that doesn't make it not true. Her statement about having thick skin is just confirmation that she refuses to see the reality. She doesn't have thick skin at all. She is just a narcissist that wants to blame others for their horrible behavior - the media, Jon, Ashley, Jamie, Beth, Kevin, Jody and on and on.
The fact that she only cares about what her kids think is laughable. Of course her kids love her - she's their mother. No matter how screwed up your parent is, you still love them and still want to please them. I also noted that she went on about how they think she's doing fantastic and they love her a lot. Again, all about her. No "I adore my kids, I love them and would do anything for them" - it's all about how THEY love and adore HER. Again, classic, classic narcissist.
I'm getting the sense that she does not have any media/entertainment options being offered to her and I think she will fade into the distance. I didn't watch the finale and never will. I quit watching regularly about 3 years ago and have not heard or seen anything that would entice me to watch again.
I think Kate squirreled away a lot of the money but also spent lavishly on herself. She's ok financially for quite a while. She has and will always be a whiner about money.
Someone posted on 15 Minuts that Jon pays $837 a month in child support. This figure is much more realistic based upon what his income must be.
Thanks for the laugh about Steve Neild. She twittered that she got in late last night, I guess from NYC, and I assume that Steve stayed at the house. Since the excuse as bodyguard no longer applies, some other name had to be made up.
I have always thought Steve's title at Prudential Associates was solely because he was one of the founders (sounds to me like a bunch of guys from New Zealand decided to open up a security firm and each took a title). Obviously, a real VP would not be carrying someone's purse or packages. Prudential probably has an office in a strip mall. I think the web site may be deceptive. I would think the secret service would have no need of a Steve Neild protecting President Clinton as it claims. Someone ought to look into this company because his position as Kate's bodyguard has never made sense.
Steve's office is near the Discovery headquarters and I think TLC hired him for his experience, probably just for specific trips or events, but then the job became full time at kate's insistence so he was assigned to her full time. He'll probably go back to escorting kate only on special occasions now.
If kate isn't comfortable traveling alone there's no reason why she couldn't go into NYC or elsewhere with a friend. She doesn't need Steve to do that. It's not like she has throngs of people swirling around her.
Of course she may perceive it that way. When she was at the corn maze she was freaking out because of the crowds of people there, but it was a ridiculous delusion. There were about 20 locals and they didn't give a rat's ass about seeing her (and of course it's always about HER security, not the kids'.) If you watch the way she acts going through airports and other public places on the show videos, she draws more attention to herself than was originally there by making a big deal out of the one or two people who notice her and then acting all upset about it. Dramarama. Anyone would look at some who's twirling around dramatically and loudly proclaiming, "Oh dear, why is everyone looking at me?" So the impression I'm left with is she loves the attention and wishes people saw her as the big star she thinks she is or wishes she was.

Bingo! Very well said and it all goes back to her narcissism and wanting the attention to be on her.
As I watched Kate today on the Today Show interview , Matt and her talked about her show Kate +8 . .... as I sat there I thought any of us could have done that show, bring our families on vacations "paid" by someone else, who couldnt do that? She didnt do anything positive on this show, scream in Alaska, scream at the kids, scream in Australia, scream about pizza. She didnt do anything special about a single mom with 8 kids, except go on vacations paid by someone else. I mean you would think we would see something speical a single mom had to do other than , nails, hair. new cars, shoes, jog to keep her body nice , blah blah. Im so glad she is off the air from that show. GOOD LUCK GOSSELIN KIDS!
If she had not already, I think she cooked her goose with her interview on the Today show- calling the rest of us simpletons "mediocure."
Guess I am!!!- my daughter's privacy is worth way more then acres, staff, clothing, and hair! She is priceless & so is her privacy!!!
And for the record- I love her with all of my heart & work my "fingers to the bone" so that she has everything that she needs & a little more! After all, life should have some cherries!- and it is my honor (
and luck in these hard times) to give her a few.
P.S. I love this blog so much- I would love to meet everyone for dinner! Werny, you are gifted at creating an internet community (something that I am still skeptical of- call me old fashion.)
Kate and Kate alone did a wonderful job in sinking her own ship on Monday. The "mediocre" comment on TODAY was just the beginning ;)
On ACCESS HOLLYWOOD Kate continued on her anti-Jon rant prompted on of course by Billy Bush:
Kate: "I don't really listen to Jon's advice because I don't think he is in a position to give me any advice."
Billy pointed out to the audience that Kate's multiple eye rolls about Jon's rumor fix video says it all.
Kate: "Jon was basically saying that good enough is good enough for him and the kids, but good enough is not good enough for me, only the best is good enough and the best is providing for them currently the way they are living."
Billy ended the segment by telling the audience that Kate said nursing is not going to cut it, and despite what Jon wants, don't rule out another reality show starring the kids.
Then AH showed Kate saying, "I never say never, so for me to say no you will never see my kids again, no I can't say that."
Irene sent me an email saying this was the best interview from yesterday and that Kate is her own worse PR person:
http://www.eonline.com/news/kate_gosselin_on_life_after_show/263224?cmpid=rss-000000-rssfeed-365-topstories&utm_source=eonline&utm_medium=rssfeeds&utm_campaign=rss_topstories
Seriously folks, Kate Gosselin did oh so much more than just shoot herself in her foot yesterday flitting from show to show seeking sympathy about being unemployed.
IMHO Kate torpedoed her own boat and then performed her own autopsy while denying she was ever at the wheel ;)
There is no doubt in my mind that Jon will do everything in his power to keep his children off TV, and after yesterday's PR tour I don't think Kate is going to find any employment in TV Land.
Now here is an interesting tidbit: my DVR is set to record THE VIEW and it was announced that today's hot topics - Tuesday - the ladies would be discussing Kate Gosselin "freaking out". But as I was typing this post I decided to fast forward through the entire episode and guess what, it appears that the ladies did NOT discuss Kate at all. Could it be that after yesterday the ladies of THE VIEW think that Kate was just too hot to discuss or now just too mediocre and not worth the time?
::::: crickets :::::
>And here is exactly why she will never change. ...
And I thought - must be Heather :-)
so I didn't read your comments yet.
I couldn't watch alone, so I asked Schmecky Girl what search terms and methods she was using (since my old interface went away) and I did likewise (searched for kate's twitter name - in my case i added the @ as I wanted to see what people were saying to her (or for her to hear)), watching the tweets - well here and there. Eventually I saw some of what Jon retweeted. And his thanks. And how he had to go to bed so he could get up and go to his #mediocre job. Way with the hashtags, Jon! I took a screenshot of one of the tweets and made it my profile picture. I should probably go change it back to something else now.
Talked to a friend on the phone today and her People magazine arrived as we were talking and she just read it to me and we rolled our eyes. I know I did. She kept saying how she was trying to keep the sarcasm out of her voice but just couldn't.
Of all the lies I heard last night (we don't do re-takes) I thought the biggest one was the one from the wedding (not the after comments upon it) We will always be together...
The best tweet I saw was something about whether TLC was going to pay for the kids' therapy... I hope they get it sooner rather than later.
Watching them on the couch - the little kids had finally learned to speak in complete understandable sentences. Cara and Mady just so grown up... Still being called pre-schoolers by mom I see. At their age I was in second grade.
Kate was right about the logistics. It's the funnest part. Find a job doing that. It doesn't require 8 Kids. (perhaps her TV career would be better spent as a producer... there's a lot of logistics there.)
She continues to make me glad that I grew up between the time I saw Yours, Mine and Ours and the time I got married and could get pregnant and realized the logistics are fun but the screaming babies - I'd never have survived, and they'd be running to their dad after the latest tongue lashing. Not the kind of Mom I would want to have.
I hope she will find something to do so she is not at home terrorizing them.
