« Happy Easter from Small Town Gosselins | Main | Brown University Lecture: Is Kate Gosselin "Mom or Monster"? »

Gosselins Included in "Biggest Scandals Ever" Show on E!

The E! Channel has been airing an episode of E! True Hollywood Stories entitled "Biggest Scandals Ever" over the past week. The Gosselins were included, placing them right up there alongside Charlie Sheen, Tiger Woods, Mel Gibson and Arnold Schwarzenegger.  It's less than a year after Kate Plus 8 was cancelled and already the Gosselin shows have been reduced to a gossipy "where are they now" kind of show.

My readers may recall that I was a guest on the the E! True Hollywood Story "Kate Gosselin" which aired early in 2011, along with fellow author and Berks County local Al Walentis.  E! used some of their footage of Al in this week's "Scandals" show but I didn't make the cut which is just fine with me.  (Who likes seeing themselves on TV?  Oh yeah...never mind.)

Funny how the Gosselins are referred to in the show as "America's favorite family."  I never even heard of them until they moved to my small PA town in late 2008 and they'd already been on TV for a few years before then.  In fact they didn't become a household word until the scandals began in the spring of 2009 and if it weren't for all the mud slinging and tabloid headlines their show would have probably been cancelled and they would have faded into obscurity wihout most Americans even being aware of their existance.  Kate may have complained about the tabs and the paps but financially they were the best thing that ever happened to her.  For a while, at least...

Here's a transcript of this week's show kindly provided by blog reader L.

Reality TV loves a train wreck, but the Gosselin family seemed to be an exception to that rule.  Until off camera scandals made headlines.  In April 2004, big news came out of the small town of Hershey Pennsylvania. A local nurse, 29 year old Kate Gosselin, was pregnant with sextuplets.

Kate: I cried. Not tears of happiness, no. Tears of fear. It was scary. They kept counting and counting and counting and counting and I thought they would never stop.

Jon: The fear at the beginning, yeah, how are you going to do this? How are you going to support them?

The Gosselins were already proud parents of twins. Then, on May 10, 2004, Kate gave birth to three boys and three girls via Caesarean section.

Kate: A very great experience. Wonderful friends made. Awesome nurses, awesome doctors and I am just very thankful for this day. They're healthy babies.

TV Host commentator Michael Kosta: They had to deal with eight kids at once, so there was just naturally a sense of, “We're rooting for you."

But Jon and Kate needed more than good wishes.

Kate (looks like she's on the GMA set): We were in a position after our sextuplets were born that we could not pay our bills.

Ken Baker (E! News Chief Correspondent): Producers at the Discovery Health Channel did a couple documentaries about their life. and they were such a big hit, that they decided to do an entire TV series on the family.

Becoming reality TV stars paid off in perks.

Al Walentis: Clothing, Cribs, strollers, car seats, different amusement parks. Just about everything in Gosselin world was being paid for by someone else.

Alison Rosen: People began to feel like maybe the fame is going to Kate's head.

Ken Baker: Kate got a tummy tuck, she also got her teeth whitened, and mind you most of this was documented on the TV show.

By 2008, the demands of shooting the series took a toll on the young couple.

Stephanie Santoro, former Gosselin nanny: Kate always wanted things her way or no way at all. She always wanted Jon to do things for her. If he didn't do it right she would flip out on him.

Kate: Anyone who has to watch themselves on TV, and how they talk, um, you think, oh, that came out a lot harsher than I meant it too. Or louder or meaner.

Ken Baker: Fame really changed their lives. She was spending most weekends away traveling, doing speaking engagements. She really enjoyed the attention.

Although the Gosselins kept a lid on their marital problems. Rumors began to spread about tension between Jon and Kate. Then in January 2009, photos surfaced of Jon partying with various women at singles bars.

Ken Baker: He would hit all the local clubs. People were telling me that he'd go out dancing, having fun.

At the same time, Jon and Kate remained under contract to film their show.

Ken Baker: They were really living totally separate lives, barely communicating. And when the cameras would come they would turn it on and pretend they were together.

Jon (Chris Cuomo interview?): I mean, I am sleeping in an apartment above my garage. I am paying a mortgage on a house I don't even sleep in anymore.

Finally, on June 22, 2009, in a move that stunned fans, the Gosselins decided to end their marriage on national television.

Howard Bragman (Vice Chairman, Jon and Kate probably would have split up eventually. It just happens a lot quicker in a reality TV world.

Al Walentis: The divorce papers were filed the day that the episode ran.

Ken Baker: At the peak of all the drama they got over 10 million viewers. They were more than doubling their viewership by finally exposing the true reality of their lives.

Kate wanted to continue filming the show, but Jon was ready to quit.

Al Walentis: He had a sign made up that said TLC is not allowed here under penalty of law, signed 'Jonathan Gosselin.'

Kate Gosselin: TLC has always said if one of us didn't want it to happen it anymore... and obviously they're not going to stand in the way... Jon is a parent. But, I wish he would think harder about it because it has ended our income, and our paychecks, and our opportunities. It is a terribly hard situation to be in.

America's favorite family was in turmoil. Scandalous stories about the Gosselin's divorce dominated the media, fueled by the couple's custody battle.

Kate Gosselin: It is very clear that we are two different people at this point, with two different sets of goals.

Ken Baker: After a lot of back and forth, a lot of posturing in the media.  Kate won primary custody of all the kids. As a result, she continued to shoot the series which was retitled Kate Plus 8.

Kate Gosselin: I don't feel like it is time to end it if we are all enjoying it. I just feel the nine of us who want to do it should be able to do it.

But Kate was having problems coping. During one episode of the show, she lost her temper when the babysitter and the kids took a piece of pizza that Gosselin said was for her bodyguard. “I am so tired of your dramatics,” the nanny told Kate on camera, and then quit.  Due to negative publicity and low ratings Kate Plus 8 was canceled in August 2011.

Howard Bragman: Kate Gosselin needs to focus on being a good mother and making a living and supporting her family.

Alison Rosen (entertainment journalist): Those eight kids are better off without the show. Having a reality show means your life is different and is interrupted. It was a like a tiny child star factory.

Where the Gosselins go from here is anybody's guess.

Alison Rosen: Kate got a new haircut and now she's involved in extreme couponing, but no one cares.

Dr. Charles Sophy (psychologist): When you are a reality person who was Average Joe, and now you're going back to that person, it's a very tough road.

Alison Rosen: Perhaps Jon and Kate can have success in the public eye again. But, I don't think there are that many people who are clamoring for more Gosselin anything. Except for news of how they are having a tough time and they are in trouble.

Kate Gosselin: In everybody's life you make sacrifices. Everybody has to work, everybody has a job. Ours is a very unique job. It has taught us many things. It's given our kids many opportunities they would not have otherwise had.

Kate Gosselin: In everybody's life you make sacrifices. Everybody has to work, everybody has a job. Ours is a very unique job. It has taught us many things. It's given our kids many opportunities they would not have otherwise had.

No, you bitch. It gave you many things you had never had, made you a 'stah', cough cough. What it gave your poor children were childhoods spent working, hate/love sites on the Internet devoted to them, the loss of their privacy, the loss of extended family members, the loss of their father (hopefully for not much longer), and isolation in the McOrphanage. There's more, but unlike some orange, leather-skinned bitches I need to get to work at my job PROTECTING children.

Bitch. Karma's knocking, can you hear it?

Wow, SusanT, tell us how you really feel! :D Yes, I agree, karma's knocking and she's resisting letting it in but it will break the door down sooner or later. Well, sooner now. It appears she was like so many other people who get famous for nothing and then think they're so great they're going to be "stahs" forever. Meanwhile she's going down in flames and will be lucky to be in a trashy "TV disasters of the 2000s" show in five years.

Jon was right when he said that reality tv is not a job. He seems to have made the transition back to a normal life quite happily; Kate, on the other hand, is clinging to her dreams of tv stardom as hard as she can.

Ditto Susan

Ya'll watch the above spoof....sad that real kid actors were used for this but boy they have the high heels, fakish Katie marked to a tee!

ooh, this looks fascinating!
just diving by to note ET showing Christie Brinkley crying on the Today show, then some stuff that sounded oddly familiar (details already forgotten) then Christie said "Google 'divorcing a narcissist'." So... that's why it sounded familiar.

Spring is still belting us, the natives are mating on the lawn and one of the girls flies in once a day, so I think she has a nest going... (we never ever see the babies if there are any)

March 27, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterPamelaJaye

Hi PamelaJaye, I was just thinking about you and it's so good to hear from you. Sounds like you and the critters are having an eventful spring. :) Don't know if I ever mentioned it but we had a female turkey and babe or babes here for a couple of summers in a row. She didn't come back last summer and I sure did miss her. We do have a resident red-tailed hawk though and sometimes there's a lot of screeching when the blackbirds decide to gang up on him and chase him around the trees.

Irene, I just can't seem to be able to view that video on either my laptop or my desktop. Everything goes sluggish and I just never get there. The ad that precedes it keep running over and over again.

It got chilly in PA again this week after a week of being in the 70s last week. Should be a beauty though. Hope everyone has a great day.

So apparently Jon is now living with his mother?

Some highlights:

She shares her beat up vehicle with the father of 8
Really? What happened to the oh so generous gift of the old BBB that Kate "gave" to Jon? Why would he need mom's car?

“Jon is going broke – he has no job and I think he has used and abused all the people close to him that helped him financially, like his brother Mark,” revealed an insider.

Hmmm...last I heard, Jon had a job in the area doing IT consulting, etc. Now, true, "consulting" can be code for "I was laid off my last job, haven't found another one yet so I'm doing contract work at the moment and I'll call it consulting because it sounds better", at least out here in Silicon Valley. But I could have sworn Jon himself tweeted his place of employment.

I can't speak for his relationship with his brother Mark. I know that a few months ago (or was it a year ago), he was supposedly upset that his brother was selling information about him to the tabloids.

Jon, 34, who shares custody of his huge brood with ex-wife Kate, previously lived in a one-bedroom apartment in Wyomissing, Pa., with his 24-year-old girlfriend Ellen Ross, but he ended up losing the pad after she broke up with him in January.

My understanding was that they never lived together. She had her own apartment in Harrisburg and he had a 2 bedroom in Reading or Wyommissing. Can't remember which.

In December, The ENQUIRER reported that times were so tough for the former IT specialist – who’s now dating single mother-of-three Elizabeth Jannetta – that his beloved BMW was repossessed, and he had to borrow his mother’s beat-up minivan. “He has eight children to provide for and has to turn to HIS mother to help support him.”

My understanding was that, according to Jon, the BMW was sold a year ago. Also, didn't he recently say he was enjoying being a single dad? Hadn't heard he was dating.

So, either Jon is lying to the world or someone has their facts wrong. I'm learning towards the latter, personally.

Gee, Kate. It's kind of sad that the only way you get the most attention continues to be through your relationship with Jon. Maybe you should have thought twice before you threw him to the curb and divorced him, huh?

Hi Werny, have you given any thought to posting anything about Kate's "fans"? There's one in particular who gives me the creeps. I took a look over at Coupon Cabin and it was so ugly I had to get off that site. Responding to people like she's tracking them to find out who they are? Ick.

Called it a month or so when Jon started signing with artist management...

He's writing a book, folks. He tweeted it was almost finished.

I thought that's what he was planning! I hope it will be respectful, however, and not diss Kate or reveal things about the kids.

March 30, 2012 | Unregistered Commentersilimom

"Wait, wait, wait. Anderson did you just call it dance? We didn't dance!" and Anderson asked if he had to take a long vacation after that experience.

"There was a a lot of therapy involved," Tony admitted.

I love this!! this is from I know this will burn Kate up. This dancing was something she couldnt control! lol She was horrible!

Silimom I saw that too about Jon being homeless? I just have to say that poor guy gets the short end of the stick everytime. If there had been no Tv show Im sure those two would still be together. Im sure it wouldnt have been easy for them but it would have been their struggle together. Its a pity those kids are in the middle .

Thank you L. for not only finding this E! Special but letting us know all about it. I lucked out, in less than an hour of reading this thread an episode was being aired and I have been giggling ever since.

As noted above, Alison Rosen said, "Kate got a new haircut and now she's involved in extreme couponing, but no one cares. ... AND ... But, I don't think there are that many people who are clamoring for more Gosselin anything. Except for news of how they are having a tough time and they are in trouble."

ITA with Alison Rosen LOL Ya know, there is a reason why some hit TV shows end while they are on top -- it leaves the people wanting more, and in a lot of cases movies tying up the loose ends have happened. But in the Gosselin case, because Kate was so desperate in seeking her own personal fame and fortune, she IMO sabotaged any and all opportunities she may have had at one time.

The love of money is truly the root of all evil.

From my POV perhaps when the kids are over 18 people might be interested to see them again, but as for Kate, NO. There is no doubt that Kate has burned down a lot of bridges that now there really are a lot of viewers that want to see Kate fail to the point of winding up homeless.

March 30, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMickey McKean

You're right silimom, Jon and Ellen never lived together. And Jon moved out of that apartment last year. He hasn't lived in wyomissing for some time. Jon has two brothers and is close to one. The other was trying to sell info and proved untrustworthy.

Aeduko, I have posted various things about kate's crazy fans including one long post in which I attempted to clear up rumors, lies and misconceptions about myself. If you search on this site for "red herrings" you'll find that post. I have made a couple of sincere attempts to clarify things and my efforts have never been returned so I don't bother anymore. It saddens me when adults are so threatened by differing opinions that they resort to bullying. Dr Lillian glass has written about them too, and I also address the issue in my book.

Silimom, I can't wait to read Jon's book and I hope he's very honest about how the experience of being on reality TV and his ex-wife's quest for fame impacted his family.

JulieB, Jon has said he and Kate would have broken up eventually anyway. It just probably would have taken longer.

Thanks for your great comments, everyone. I'm in a hotel at a conference in Harrisburg and for some reason I can't get Internet so I'm writing on my iPad. Tomorrow night I'll be back home and it will feel good to be back on my computer. Have a great night everyone.

March 30, 2012 | Registered CommenterWerny Gal

I guess my point about Kate and Jon breaking was more less she wouldnt have been so quick to do it , they didnt have much money before show. I dont blame Jon for getting out . With that money comeing in really empowered her. WG yes I do remember Jon stating that also, poor guy

March 31, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJulie B

I agreed (maybe not here) with Julie's thought that they would not break up without the show because who would Kate get to do all her work for her and put her coffee out like Jon did, if she were not rich? She would have to keep him to be her slave. She could not get up early to get kids changed or ready for school. At least not according to early episodes (and I couldn't either, so it makes sense to me. hence me not having any)

March 31, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterPamelaJaye

I don't know that Jon and Kate would have divorced if it hadn't been for the show. I think, as the children aged, the donations would have eventually stopped, as would have the speaking engagements at churches. Then it would have just been Kate and Jon and 8 kids and unless she had someone richer to move on to, Kate would have stuck it out with Jon.

I've said this before, Kate reminds me of the wife in the story "The Fisherman and his Wife".

April 2, 2012 | Unregistered Commentersilimom

Oh crap. Even though this is technically last week's news, this video showed up on my AOL home page today:

FYI before I found this blog .... before I found out that Al Walentis was writing a book ... I knew by comments made by Anderson Cooper that he was NOT a fan of Kate Gosselin, and if you look up his background you can understand why.

For the record, based on these facts I wrote to Anderson and asked him to consider doing an expose on Kate and her exploitation of her 8 children for her own fame and fortune. In fact I was also was wrting to any entertainment writer that was writing anything Gosselin related and asking them the same thing, and I was posting my letters on GWOP and other posters were doing the same thing LOL

All this being said, I was not surprised that Anderson would bring up Kate when he was talking to Tony last week, two years after she was on DWTS. If nothing else, IMO Kate couldn't even two step if her life depended on it and anyone who watches DWTS knows exactly what I am talking about, but for her to push Tony to the breaking point where he quits is hard to forget. Of course there is also the little tidbit that Kate seemed to be too busy and/or preoccupied to learn to dance, or hell, even TRY.

Now Kate, still grasping at anything might keep her relevant, has posted a reply on her CC blog to the conversation Tony and Anderson had last week. I have never gone to that site, will never go to that site, but I do not think her employer CC should allow her comments BUT I also know that it has brought them hits so I understand why they did not delete her post.

Kate showed up in Vegas and some photos were taken but I still think that in just a short time before even these news magazines will not even mention her any more. Her 15 minutes are over, and everyone knows it.

April 3, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMickey McKean

MckeyMckean- when I posted earlier about Anderson Cooper and Tony ,earlier I knew she would have to say something . She cant controll herself. She gives her jabs but says she is taking the high road, whatever ! As we all know Kate does no wrong! lol
In her eyes. Even the day she made him wak off , (tony ) it wasnt " her" fault it was his. blah blah blah. We can only hope they all stop writting about her and she keeps blogging about coupons.

April 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJulie B

Kate is one of those people that shouldn't blog or twitter. She just makes herself out to be worse and worse with everything she says. This week it's buy candy and freeze for Easter. Really - frozen candy is horrible. No need since it's on sale everywhere. She spends days in Las Vegas for her birthday with the "body guard" that she doesn't need, neatly sitting at a table in the first row of a show. Since when do body guards have their back to the crowd, sitting down, drinking. She brags about wearing another "designer" dress, but today she is taking kids cloths to consignment to get the kids new cloths. Last I checked - the kids earned all the money. Why don't they get new cloths and Kate make due with what she wore last year? Wonder what the tups will experience for their birthday in May, since this will be the first one that TLC is not funding. Please Jon - get these kids away from monster mommy. Eight kids in one bedroom would be better than what they experience with her. She's got millions hidden - get a good financial forensic investigator and get your butt back on court.

Happy Easter to all the neighbors at small town...may all the kids in our lives eat too much chocolate (fresh easter wrapped not discount frozen freezer burned), get so much easter egg dye on their hands they are blue for days, and re hide eggs all over the house that we find them next July.

I know Kate wants to remain relevant maybe she might try being relevant in her own home for once.

IMO today THE VIEW had an interesting episode.

Whoopie anounced that one of the hot topics was the fact that Octomom Nadya Suleman was getting death threats because she recently had to go on food stamps to feed her 14 children but she [Nadya] said she is willing to do anything she can do to make money including posing nude but she can't get a full time job because she has 14 kids to take care off.

Sherri: "The tragedy about this situation is that she needs to make money quickly, it is $9,000/month to feed 14 children and she is only getting $2,000, and anybody who has 3 kids knows that $2,000 is not enough. We can't keep blaming her because the kids are here .... they did not ask to have this mom who is crazy and had all of them ..."

Joy brings up the subject of contraception .... Elizabeth is amazed at Nadya's belly button because her own is messed up after 3 kids ... Sherri brings up the fact that Nadya chose to have the the 14 kids and did so by fertility treatments.

Whoopi: "I try to look at all things but I'm mad as hell at her because she knew when she had the first set that she couldn't afford it ... she knew then ... and her parents told her that they could not afford to keep doing this ... that should tell you that down the road at some point you are going to have to feed all of them."

Joy: "She told Oprah that she was addicted to having children"

Whoopi: "I love people who want to have kids, God bless them ... [addiction is not pretty] but here we are now ... but if you can't get a full time job because you have 14 kids ... this is the same rap that we got from the other mother (Whoopi can't remember Kate's name so someone says Kate Gosselin) she [Kate] did this and she did that ... perhaps it is time for Nadya to talk to the neighborhood nursery and tell them she needs help because she can no longer afford to do this and she wants to keep her kids together."

Joy: "See needs a village"

Sherri: "She needs help from so many sources to get out of this"

Whoopi: "People are pissed off ... they are mad ... because she did this ... but nobody should be sending death threats ... what is the matter with you people?"

Joy: "People don't get upset by corporate welfare but they get pissed off about individual welfare which bothers me a lot"

Whoopi: "I don't think that is pissing them off as much as the fact that she knew before she did this that she was in a precarious situation."

Folks, as a Californian who is now paying to support Nadya and her children, let me say that I am mad at the overall situation but I am certainly not surprised.

For starters I am mad at TLC for putting families with mulitiples on the air which of course would make other families think that this is the way to get rich and famous (this was my first thought when I heard that Nadya had just delivered 8 babies which outdid Kate Gosselin by 2!). I am mad at the doctor who implanted this single mother of 6 kids (who was not able to take care of them by herself) with 8 embreyos even if the odds were against all of them making it to term. I am mad upon hearing that Nadya blew through all the financial gifts by pure mismanagement of the funds (as reported by Suze Orman on Oprah who saw all of Nadya's financial records and went through them with a fine tooth comb).

Now that Nadya is on welfare, I admit I am mad that she did not accept an offer of a $1 million dollar paycheck for doing 3(?) porn flicks in 2009, then in 2010 the offer was reduced to $500,000 and of course by 2012 she was paid $10,000 for the recent nude photo shoot.

Whereas I can appreciate her position that she does not want to do porn, she does in fact have 14 mouths to feed and she is the one who is responsible for her kids being here because she wanted them. Also, not everyone is offered such a deal in the first place and if it comes down to it, should Nadya exploit herself and her body for a paycheck or exploit her children in a reality show? IMO hands down it should be just the mother.

For the record I know people who have posed for Playboy and Playgirl. It was their thing to do, not mine, and it certainly did not change our friendship in any way. This being said, I happen to believe that if she had taken the offer that Nadya's children when older would understand why she did what she did in order to feed them and keep them together has a family. But she did not so this is all a moot point.

So overall I think this is a very sad situation and even though I would hate to see it, I think Nadya will eventually be forced to give up her kids. If this happens, then I think there will be a lot of emotional long term problems for all concerned ... and I find I get mad again because this is all because of medical science. Sure thanks to medical science a lot of people have been able to have kids, and yes this is great that we have made great strides, but then we have cases of where people have abused medical science and expect the public to pay for it.

Also on THE VIEW today was Christie Brinkley and during her segment Sherri of course brought up the fact that there have been recent headlines about her and her ex Peter Cook.

Christie said, "... this latest round seems to have stuck a chord with a lot of women and some men across the country who are going through the same thing ... it is called NPD or narcisstic personality disorder."

Joy: "Are you saying that is what Peter has?

Christie: "I'm not saying it, the judge diagnosed it, he ordered a forensic psychiatric evaluation of both of us and I was deemed OK"

Christie goes on to say that on her facebook page women are sharing their experiences ... they are sharing sites and support and hopefully we can get the courts to recognize this as a very real ..."

Joy interrupted Christie and eventually Whoopi got Christic back to discussing the play Chicago.

Now on ACCESS HOLLYWOOD from last week, after Christie was interviewed by Matt Lauer I found this very interesting:

Christie said on TODAY: "A bonafide malignant or extreme narcissitic, this is a personality disorder"

Peter: "I think there is a part of me that is a narcisstic, I think there is a part of my narcissism that makes me a really great dad and focuses my energy on my children."

Interviewer: "How does being a narcissitic make you a better father?"

Peter: "Because narcissism makes you focus attention on something ... you can either be focused either entirely on yourself and you can focus your energies on a child."

Stacy Kaiser, Psychotherapist: "This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Being a good parent is the polar opposite of narcissism. A person who is a narcissist is somebody who is self absorbed, who needs extra attention and admiration, kind of like what we are seeing here on the [Today] show. I have to give him some credit, he really believes what he is saying even though it is absolutely crazy."

Per AH, Peter claimed on the TODAY show interview that Christie was poisoning her children with misinformation.

Now I personally don't know what is going on this Christie/Peter divorce - actually I don't really care - but I did find it interesting that it appears that the husband is the one who had NPD and how things are different when it is not the mother. Also I did find it very interesting that in this family law case the judge ordered both parents to be evaluated. Hopefully, like Christie said on THE VIEW, perhaps more family law judges across the country will take this route to get a better understanding of what is really happening, especially when there are children involved.

It was in May 2006 that I first heard the word Narcissist. My gf of 20+ years and I were on a message board that was visited frequently by members of a certain organization. A lot of us were posting under our real names, and if an alias was used it was easy to find out who the poster was just by asking them point blank. It was like a family affair on this board; addresses, phone numbers and email addresses were available, all you had to do was ask. It was an easy going message board, there was a serious side to it and a funny side and suffice it to say my gf and I would tell our funny stories of our travels and a lot of people were very interested to hear what happened during our trips.

Long story short, my gf was divorced and one of the guys from the board who lived in CO and her "hit it off" and they got engaged. Alas after 2 months though he broke it off and next thing I know her daughter calls me and asks me if I can get a ring back that her mom gave to her fiance -- through tears the daughter had to tell me that her mother is a liar. For starters, not only was my gf married, her husband of 20 years was completely clueless that her mother had been cheating on him for years (I know she was a cheater because I was with her when she was dating these guys she met on the road!!!) and the ring that she gave to her fiance turns out was a ring that was given to her step father by a close friend's mother after her son died in a car accident. The daughter loved her step father so much that she ratted out her mother to me because she figured I might be able to get the ring back since her mother had burnt the bridge between her and the ex fiance.

I not only got the ring back but I announced on the board that I was now reevaluating everything that I had ever been told to me by my gf over the 20 years. Whereas I knew that some parts were true since I was with her when some of the events happened, there still were huge lies that the daughter had cleared up (like her biological father was living and had not died 3 months after she was born and the first time I heard this sad story (lie) of her being a single mom was in 1987). As I type this I still wonder, why would anyone tell this lie in the first place?

I am a honest person, I do not lie, so for me to discover that a good friend of so many years where we shared a lot of good times had pretty much lied to me about everything was very hard to get over. The kicker is there was another gal who joined us on a lot of our trips and she also was stunned when I told her what the daughter had revealed to me.

As for the message board, the web master not only sent me a link about narcissism and told me he saw "red flags" because she was also so self absorbed but for her to be such a liar ... anyway he banned her from his board and announced that her name was never to be typed on his board again.

The next time I heard the word narcissist was in 2009 and it was in regards to Kate Gosselin. To this day I think Kate fits the profile more than my gf but it is after all just an arm chair diagnosis. But what concerns me is that here we are in 2012 and it seems that I hear the word narcissist all the time.

I do think that Peter Cook has NPD because he announced on TV that was his diagnosis. As for Kate, well I doubt she will ever go to a psychiatrist so there will be no confirmation but she does seem to have all the classic symptoms. I also think that Heather's husband mother is a narcisstic.

There is one other person who I think has NPD and that is Sheldon Cooper on THE BIG BANG THEORY. Let's face it, anyone who thinks that he alone is the smartest person on the planet and no one even comes close to his intelligence is just ... funny. However I can't tell you how many times I want to hit him for his condescending comments ... but we are talking about a sitcom.

Anyway I just wanted to make the point that 6 years ago I did not even know about NPD and now I hear the term used all the time. Whereas I think one can have a big ego and not be a narcissist, I do hope that the word is not overused to the point that no one cares about what living with a narcissist can do to the people who have to live with them.

This morning I was bored and went to 15 to see if there was anything new in Gosselinland and it just so happened to be 10 minutes or so after Kate answered a tweet about Jon and court. Because I had nothing else to do I went to twitter and followed the tweets live.

For the record I happen to believe that whoever was behind the sock puppet(s) was created just to put information out there about Jon and this alleged court date.

Now I just found that ROL has posted the following:

Kate Gosselin Blindsided By Jon’s Plans To Head To Court Over Child Support
Kate Gosselin was shocked by a legal move her ex-husband is about to make.

The Kate Plus 8 star found out from a Twitter follower that her ex, Jon Gosselin, is planning to head to court next week and she was blindsided by the news!

This is happy horse shit!!!! Kate would not be blindsided whatsoever because her attorney of course would have to be notified of any such court action, and I happen to believe that she herself, in order to be relevant over the weekend since Whoopi could not remember her name yesterday, created the sock puppets just to get in the news again. It is also not a surprise that according to posters on 15 these sock puppets were created and have now been deleted off twitter. Gee what a surprise.

I don't trust the dirt on either side in the Brinkley/Peter mess. Christie doesn't have a stellar track record of how to make a marriage. Four is a bit much.

Nadia has a lot wrong with her. She doesn't ever listen. It seems she can't shut up and interrupts everybody, and I do mean everybody, with her psychobabble. She is hyperactive to the extreme, runs all the time taking care of the kids. She has done almost everything in life wrong, including enslaving her parents to her own brand of sickness. But she has not had sex in many years, in fact since years before the first of the original 6 were born. In no way do I think she should have done any porn movies. That's the first correct decision she's made in a long while. Too much sex was never her problem, and her 14 kids should not have that to live down on top of all the other problems they will have interacting with others. It's a mess, but she is actually costing us CA taxpayers a pittance in comparison to others. She missed the money train with those kids. But now I hear another family with sextuplets (yes another paltry 6 incomparison to Nadia's 8 plus 6) is being featured by Oprah's new failing network. I won't be watching her new show, that's for sure.

Mickie Out West,

Re the Brinkley/Peter mess, I really do not know all the details of their mess because I don't care. I have only paid recent attention when I heard Christie say "goggle divorcing a narcissitic" and that the judge in their case had requested that both parents be evaluated which I think is best in ALL nasty divorces regardless of whether or not there is a lot of money involved. It goes without saying that I'm sure that Jon did not have a fun time in divorce court since Kate has NPD and the money to get her own way.

Re Nadya, you made a point that had not even occurred to me, that is there is no evidence that she is into sex, just into having babies. The fact is not everyone has sex regularly in their lives, even married couples, and they are OK with it since it is their lives to live how they want. However Nadya did do a fetish movie after she appeared on Oprah and I do not have a problem with it since it was a way for her to make a living and take care of her family. It was a paying gig. So there is no doubt that Nadya had opportunities, just may or may not have taken advantage of all job offers. You are also correct that she does come off as a whackadoodle (her laugh annoys me), and in the overall scheme of things she is costing us CA taxpayers a mere pittance in compared to others.

Re a family with sextuplets will be on Oprah's network, until you brought this up I was not aware of it. As it is when I was typing my thoughts above re Nadya the other day I wondered whatever happened to the other families with multiples that had a reality show -- I know the Masches divorced, but what about the family with quints in TX and the people in NY? -- did the Gosselin train wreck and then Kate taking all the expensive trips with her kids turn off viewers of parents who exploit their children? Anyway I knew without confirming what family Oprah would have contacted, and now that Kate is off the air perhaps there will be some interest in this family's reality show, or maybe not. Only time will tell.
